Bird Watching Takes Teamwork!

Today we looked and listened for birds in the garden.  If your class was quiet, we were able to see many birds.  If we were too loud the birds flew away long before we could see them.  We took our ideas into the art room to make Bird Collages and Sculptures.  We were able to find things all over the classroom to make our art…just like the birds would be making a nest!

School Garden Week 2

IMG_1434We gathered all the dead leaves from around the base of the new green plants growing.  We know that if we pull on a plant and it is hard to pull…STOP!  There are roots connecting the plant to the ground.  Even though it looks dead we need to let it grow.  The brown dead leaves are carbon that we added to our compost pile.  The garden is almost clean for spring!  What changes did you see today in our school garden?

Week 1 of Garden Season!

Garden season begins today! Please bring your coat to every class with Mrs. Merdzinski because we will be going outside to look for signs of spring this week! We will be blogging about it, reading garden books in the library and making art in the art room! What did you see outside this week
